Anthony Cacace vs. Leigh Wood is on May 10. The main card starts at 2 p.m. ET. Cacace and Wood should make their way to the ring around 5:30 p.m. ET, depending on how long the undercard fights last.

Cacace (23-1) is on an eight-fight win streak. The Belfast-born fighter is a former British super featherweight champion who beat Joe Cordina for the IBF super featherweight title last May. He bet on himself by vacating the title before beating Josh Warrington at Wembley.

It was a bold move to relinquish the belt while on the run he is on. However, Cacace believes he’ll be fighting for gold again following this fight.

“It’s the big fights now, but, you know, the winner of me and Wood – which will be myself – will box for a world title,” Cacace told BoxingScene. “I don’t know [who it will be against] yet, I don’t know yet, but you’ll find out pretty soon.”

Wood (28-3) took out Can Xu in 2021 for the WBA featherweight title. After going 1-1 against Mauricio Lara for the belt, he stopped Warrington in Sheffield in 2023. “Leigh-thal” hasn’t fought in over 18 months, with injuries affecting his ability to box.

The last time he was in Nottingham, Wood got taken out by Lara. This time, in a new division, Wood looks to treat fans, from Nottingham to Derby, with a performance to remember.

“He [Cacace] was on my radar for all of 2024,” Wood told BoxingScene. “I wanted that fight before Warrington, but I was injured and wouldn’t be ready in time to fight him. So I had to wait a bit, fight Warrington, and here we are.

“He’s had some really good wins and is in really good form. His confidence must be flying. I’ve got to go out there and strangle that confidence out of him, round by round. That’s what I’ll do. I’m not saying it’s going to be easy, but I’ve prepared perfectly for him, and I know him better than he knows himself. I’m as confident as he is.”
