Falcons insult Julio Jones with Jalon Walker jersey number choice

Do the Atlanta Falcons not have any other jersey numbers?

They keep giving Julio Jones’ No. 11 to other players rather than retiring it.

First-round rookie Jalon Walker is the latest to get 11, and at least he’s a bit prestigious.

In the past two seasons, backup QB Logan Woodside and practice squad QB Emory Jones each got No. 11.

Jones might be the greatest player in the history of the Falcons.

He made seven Pro Bowls, more than any in franchise history.

He holds Falcons records for single-game, single-season and career receiving yards along with single-season and career receptions.

Unlike Jones, his contemporary Falcons legend Matt Ryan has not had his No. 2 issued since he left the team in 2022.

The Falcons don’t officially retire numbers, but they sort of do.

Mike Kenn played 17 seasons with the Falcons at offensive tackle, and his No. 78 hasn’t been worn since he departed in 1994.

A few other numbers are mostly out of commission in Atlanta, too.

But if you want No. 11? Seems like it’s fair game, unless Walker manages to live up to his draft pedigree and last for a decade.

Maybe if Walker shines bright enough, the Falcons can retire No. 11, twice.
