All eyes will be on Rome, Italy, as some of the best tennis players compete in the fifth WTA 1000 tournament of the season, the Italian Open, from May 6 to May 17.

World No. 2 Iga Swiatek enters this year’s edition as the defending champion, having won her third Italian Open by defeating current World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in last year’s final.

The Pole hasn’t been her dominant self during this clay season and will be hoping to bag a title on red dirt before the French Open rolls in. Swiatek is chasing her her fourth Italian Open, which will see her level the count with tennis legends like Serena Williams, Conchita Martinez and Gabriela Sabatini.

The star-studded line-up in Rome includes Sabalenka, Madrid finalist Coco Gauff, home favorite Jasmine Paolini and teen sensation Mirra Andreeva.
