PSG and Man City battle €70m Ligue 1 assist king

Manchester City and PSG are gearing up for a summer transfer battle over rising AS Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche.

The 23-year-old winger, whose summer exit looks increasingly likely, is under contract in Monaco until 2028 and has drawn strong interest from both European heavyweights after a breakout Ligue 1 season.

The France U21 international has been dominant in Ligue 1 this season with an eye-catching tally of nine assists from 30 games, which puts him fourth on the Ligue 1 assist leader board for 2024/25.

Akliouche’s left-footed creativity, ball control and ability to play across the front line have made him one of the most sought-after players in Ligue 1.

City boss Pep Guardiola is particularly interested in the Frenchman and views him as a potential long-term successor to Bernardo Silva with the Premier League. There have been reports that Guardiola wanted to sign him in January, but Monaco did not sell mid-season.

Monaco now seem more open to letting go of Akliouche with a valuation of around €70m [$80m] according to reports in 90min,

PSG have maintained contact with the player’s representatives, but with no bridge made to Monaco, as they plan to step up those transfer efforts once the season ends.

PSG also eye up Liverpool star

According to Anfield Watch, PSG have also stepped up their efforts to sign Liverpool’s French defender Ibrahima Konate.

Konate is under contract until 2026, but has not yet agreed to an extension at Anfield, despite being offered a new deal.

Talks have reached an impasse with Konate wanting a new deal that will make him one of the highest earners at the club and PSG are pushing hard to sign him amid rumours they could lose Marquinhos to the Saudi Pro League.
