Bo Bichette is trying to earn a new contract with the Toronto Blue Jays.
His power numbers weren’t doing him any favors.
Finally, that changed on Saturday.
Bichette hit his first home run of the season, an absolute crushed shot to deep left field in Toronto.

Bichette had gone an insane 256 at bats since his last MLB home run.
The shortstop entered Saturday batting .285, so it hadn’t been all bad. But he’s got to feel good to finally get on the home run board.
Bichette’s contract is up at the end of the season. The Blue Jays got Vladimir Guerrero Jr. inked to his huge extension, so Bichette is the one potential order of business remaining.
He’s less certain to get a deal after declining in the past season-plus from his peak years from 2021-23.
If Bichette can heat up now, it’ll give him a chance for a payday from the Blue Jays, or from another team if Toronto opts not to keep him.
On Saturday, he’ll just be happy to finally have his first home run trot of the season.
