Canelo Alvarez vs. William Scull live fight results, updates, highlights from 2025 boxing card

Canelo Alvarez looks to become a two-time undisputed champion when he faces William Scull on May 3 for super middleweight gold. The fight airs on DAZN worldwide.

Canelo (62-2-2) competes outside North America for the first time in his career. It took him 11 months to hold all the gold at super middleweight. If he wins, he hopes to face Terence Crawford before the year ends.

Scull (23-0) was the mandatory challenger for Canelo, but a fight didn’t materialize, so the IBF stripped Canelo. He beat Vladimir Shishkin to become the IBF champion. While Scull holds gold, a win against Canelo would be the cherry on top of a magical few months.

“I’ve been ready for this moment. It took me a while to get invited to the party, but I assure you, I will be taking home those belts,” Scull said.

Also on the card, Badou Jack defends the WBC cruiserweight title against Norair Mikaeljan. A former super middleweight and light heavyweight champion, Jack (28-3-3) is on a six-fight win streak but hasn’t fought since 2023. Mikaeljan (27-2) won the belt in 2023 but was named “champion in recess” by the WBC.

Meanwhile, Martin Bakole (21-2) returns to the ring against Efe Ajagba (20-1). Bakole competed in a last-minute fight against Joseph Parker. Ajagba is on a five-fight win streak.

The Sporting News will provide results, analysis, and highlights from the entire Canelo vs. Scull boxing event.

Mohammed Alakel vs. Alexander Morales

Round five:

SN unofficial scorecard:

Round four: Alakel landed multiple jabs, but he was not explosive with his power, very noticeable. Morales still didn’t offer much as Alakel was trying to open him up.

SN unofficial scorecard: 10-9 Alakel (40-36 Alakel)

Round three: Alakel was asked to put more power on his jab, and he complied right away. He landed multiple jabs and uppercuts. Alakel followed it up with step-in uppercut. Morales has shown no sign of producing anything that will hurt Alakel.

SN unofficial scorecard: 10-9 Alakel (30-27 Alakel)

Round two: Alakel continued to press forward, landing sharp jabs and uppercuts through Morales’ defense. Though the fight is in the center of the ring, it feels Alakel has his opponent in the corner. He landed a body and head shot.

SN unofficial scorecard: 10-9 Alakel (20-18 Alakel)

Round one: Alakel used a jab and a hook to push Morales back. The former kept his distance, and reached for an uppercut. The young gun looked sharp, even with a minimum number of fights under his belt.

SN unofficial scorecard: 10-9 Alakel
