Liverpool have confirmed the expected as Arne Slot’s side cruised to a dominant 5-1 Anfield win over Tottenham to confirm their second Premier League title in five years.
The Reds needed just a single point against Spurs to seal their 20th top-flight league crown and Slot charges stormed over the line.
In front of a buoyant home crowd, Liverpool reacted to conceding an early goal, to simply overpower Ange Postecoglou’s side and smash home five goals.
Liverpool’s EPL title win in 2020 under Jurgen Klopp infamously came during the Covid-19 pandemic as Jordan Henderson lifted the trophy in front of an empty Anfield.
The scenes were a world away from that as 2025’s crown was sealed as a sun-soaked Anfield hailed their heroes in emphatic style.
Slot thanked the fans for their loyalty and passion in the run-in, as he became the fifth EPL manager to win the title in his first season – and the Dutchman had a special post-match message for his predecessor.

Slot’s message to Klopp as Liverpool seal Premier League title?
A delighted Slot thanked Klopp for laying the ground work in his squad with the majority of the 2023/24 team playing a key role under the new boss.
“It’s difficult to put into words. The scenes here and before the game tells you more than I can describe,” he told Sky Sports.
“[The fans being here] is what makes it special. In 2020, when they won the league. It was an amazing accomplishment, but the fans weren’t there. You can feel how important it was for them to be here and the boys did an outstanding job today, including our fans.
“It feels great. I don’t think I want to say a lot. The only thing now is to send my appreciation to Jurgen Klopp.
“The work Jurgen [Klopp] and Pep [Lijnders] left here, the culture, work rate, quality, it is outstanding. We started [the season] really well and maybe it helped that City had a difficult spell which they have not had in five years.
“The way we arrived on the bus, everyone was thinking there is no way we’re going to lose this game. Conceding first made it difficult, but they always find a way to win.”
Liverpool will now be given a traditional champions guard of honour in their EPL trip to Chelsea on May 4 with their first home game as confirmed champions coming against second place Arsenal on May 11.
A planned trophy parade is all set for the city of Liverpool on Monday May 26, the day after the final league game of the 2024/25 season.
