Nottingham Forest vs. Man City lineups, expected starting 11, confirmed team news, injuries: Doku pushing for start

Manchester City will seek to keep their trophy run going in an FA Cup semifinal against a Nottingham Forest side enjoying a phenomenal season.

In all likelihood, City’s four-season reign as Premier League champions will officially end this weekend, with Liverpool a point away from the title.

But you have to go back to 2016/17 for the only time Pep Guardiola has finished a season in Manchester without a trophy and he will be keen to see his side’s recent upturn in form continue and secure a third successive cup final berth.

Nottingham Forest stand in City’s way, having already beaten the seven-time winners 1-0 at the City Ground last month. Guardiola’s side have not lost in seven games since, and a tight, tense affair is anticipated.

Nuno Espirito Santo will hope influential right-back Ola Aina can shake off a calf problem, especially as Neco Williams is absent through suspension.

Club captain Ryan Yates is also banned due to yellow-card accumulation, with Nicolas Dominguez most likely to partner Elliot Anderson in central midfield in his absence

Nottingham Forest (4-2-3-1, right to left): Sels (GK) — Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Toffolo — Dominguez, Anderson — McAtee, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Marmoush.

Pep Guardiola has no new injury concerns following the dramatic 2-1 Premier League win over Aston Villa, although James McAtee is suspended after collecting his second booking of the competition in the quarterfinal win at Bournemouth.

Ederson sat out City’s past two matches with a groin injury and, although the Brazil international is closing in on a return, Stefan Ortega’s usual status as City’s cup goalkeeper means he will probably remain in between the posts.

Jeremy Doku produced a game-breaking contribution from the bench to set up Matheus Nunes’s stoppage-time winner in midweek and could be rewarded with a start. The Belgium winger scored when City beat Forest 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season.

Rodri and Erling Haaland are stepping up their recoveries but remain sidelined alongside John Stones and Oscar Bobb.

Man City (4-2-4, right to left): Ortega (GK) — Nunes, Dias, Gvardiol, O’Reilly — Kovacic, Silva — Savinho, De Bruyne, Marmoush, Doku.

Injured: Ederson (thigh, doubt), Haaland (ankle), Rodri (ACL), Stones (thigh), Bobb (hamstring)
Suspended: McAtee
