The NBA Playoffs are underway, and sports bettors are on the edge of their seats watching all of the games, close or not. Some bettors are putting a lot on the line, including celebrities such as the rapper Drake.
Drake posted to his Instagram story that he put $620k on the Minnesota Timberwolves to beat the Los Angeles Lakers tonight. He also had a six word caption directed at T-Wolves superstar Anthony Edwards, saying “Lemme see sum real quick Ant”.
As of now, the T-Wolves and Lakers are tied in the series 1-1. The Timberwolves won the first game handily, winning by 22, 117-95. They then lost the next in a horrible shooting night by both teams, 94-85.
Now, the T-Wolves are returning home to Minnesota, so they should be able to win. With home court advantage, they could take the lead back to L.A. and try to win the series there.
However, Drake’s betting history has labeled him as “cursed”. Drake isn’t a good bettor, as more often than not, his bets don’t hit. Since January of 2024, he’s only 9-14. Drake’s curse has also been a lot longer than that, so it might be a factor in tonight’s game.
All that means is Edwards and company truly need to show out, and prove that they can win. If they can overcome the Drake Curse, then it’s possible that they can win the series and advance. Hopefully they do, and get one step closer to making the NBA Finals.
