Arsenal are assessing their options on key players approaching the end of their contracts at the Emirates Stadium at the end of the season.
Despite their previous stance over Thomas Partey, the club have changed their position on the Ghanaian following his phenomenal performances in the UEFA Champions League against Real Madrid.
The 31-yar-old had looked certain to be moving on from North London when his deal expires in June.
However, as per reports from the NY Times, Mikel Arteta is now prepared to offer him an extension after a form revival since the start of 2025.
Arteta’s offer will be considered by Partey and his representatives, but due to his current status, the veteran midfielder is able to decide his own fate with Barcelona and former club, Atletico Madrid both tracking him.
Arsenal’s package is rumoured to include an extension until June 2027, with the option for another 12 months, which offers more stability than a return to Spain.

Andrea Berta the key to Partey’s contract extension
Partey has been a pivotal figure for Arteta this season. His combative nature and ability to retain possession in the middle of the park has helped the Gunners immensely against physical opponents.
He has featured in 136 games for Arsenal since joining the club in 2020 for £45m (€60m) from Atletico Madrid after the Gunners activated his release clause.
Arteta has been tight-lipped of the matter, when asked about Partey’s next step. “Yes, there is progress with all the players,” Arteta told BBC Sport.
“I’ll leave that to [sporting director] Andrea [Berta] and the club to decide and talk about.”
Berta is the most important figure in the talks. The duo previously worked together during their time at Atletico Madrid, and it was Berta who sanctioned his transfer to Arsenal.
