£50m Bournemouth star prefers move to Chelsea over Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle United

Chelsea have endured a turbulent campaign so far this season and find themselves in a race to secure UEFA Champions League football next season. On the back of the kind of season that Chelsea have had, one can expect a busy transfer window at Stamford Bridge.

Regardless of how the Blues finish this campaign, Enzo Maresca is expected to be financially backed in the upcoming transfer window.

If a report in the Independent is to be believed, Chelsea have been offered a boost in the race to sign 19-year-old central defender Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth.

Huijsen has had a breakthrough season in the Premier League and has established himself as one of the most promising defenders in the division. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle United are in pursuit of his signature.

Why Huijsen to Chelsea makes sense

The Independent reports that the youngster is seriously considering Chelsea’s proposal, who are willing to offer a package that could make up a seven-year contract. The potential signing of Huijsen makes sense for the Blues as it is in keeping with their policy of signing the best young talent from across the globe.

The Independent also add that Enzo Maresca’s team hope to complete a deal before the Club World Cup, which starts in the summer. Chelsea and Manchester City are the two English teams participating in the Club World Cup.

On the back of a solid season for Bournemouth, Huijsen made his debut for Spain this year, having switched over from the Netherlands. The centre-back has found the back of the net twice so far in the Premier League season and also provided one assist.

More importantly, his defensive contributions have helped the Cherries have an impressive season that sees them vying for a European spot as the season draws to a close.
