Raiders fans who want to draft Ashton Jeanty just got terrible news

For most of the NFL Draft mock draft season, the Las Vegas Raiders have been the favorite to land Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty.

The Heisman Trophy runner-up has slotted in at the Raiders’ No. 6 overall spot on a ton of draft boards.

But now, it appears that may have been premature.

The betting odds at FanDuel Sportsbook have moved considerably in favor of a different team swiping Jeanty.

FD lists Jeanty as a -170 favorite to go to the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 5 overall, right out from under the Raiders’ noses.

Sportsbook betting odds for drafts aren’t always perfect, but movement usually indicates some kind of real activity that those in the know have become aware of.

These odds could slide right back by Thursday night’s first round, but for now, they at least instill doubt in the minds of Raiders fans everywhere.

This could mean the Raiders seek a trade up one spot to get their guy. It could mean a different team from further down, maybe the Cowboys, seeks a trade up to No. 4 to leapfrog the Jags.

It could all mean nothing, and the Raiders could end up with Jeanty after all.

Jacksonville does have established running backs in Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby, although there are Etienne trade rumors and Jeanty seemingly would be an upgrade on Bigsby.

The Raiders definitely need a top RB in the backfield with Geno Smith. Sincere McCormick is promising but no sure thing.

And with about 24 hours until the draft gets underway, the mood in that pursuit has officially changed for Las Vegas. Now, we wait and see if the money is right.
