Celtics star Jayson Tatum might miss Game 2 after updated diagnosis

Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum’s status is in doubt for Game 2 versus the Orlando Magic.

Reporting for ESPN on Tuesday afternoon, NBA insider Shams Charania said the following on Tatum:

“Sources tell me that Jayson Tatum underwent an MRI on that right wrist over the last 24 hours, and he has been diagnosed with a bone bruise in his shooting wrist.”

“It’s believed to be a pain tolerance injury, something that the Celtics will be managing day to day, and his status is somewhat up in the air for Game 2 on Wednesday.”

“It’s very hard for a guy like Jayson Tatum to miss any period of time. He loves playing basketball, but that injury clearly might be something that lingers for a little bit.”

Game 2 is scheduled for Wednesday night. The Celtics lead the Magic 1-0 in the series after winning Game 1 103-86 behind 30 points from Derrick White.

Tatum finished Game 1 with 17 points and 14 rebounds but suffered a worrisome wrist injury when he fell to the floor hard after being fouled at the rim. Before Charania’s update, Celtics fans were wondering how bad the injury would be for Tatum moving forward.

Tatum’s wrist will probably be a topic to monitor for the remainder of the NBA playoffs.

As the Celtics look to defend their NBA crown, they are now dealing with their two superstars suffering from injuries.
