One’s circling the drain. The other’s charging to rein. That’s the story before the Premier League action heads to the King Power Stadium as Leicester welcomes Liverpool.
The Foxes are hanging by the thinnest of threads — 17 points from safety with six to go. Mathematically alive, but spiritually halfway to the Championship already.
Ruud van Nistelrooy was brought in to shake things up, but Leicester’s still sleepwalking to the drop. A 2-2 scrap with Brighton showed a bit of bite, but they’ll need a miracle to pull off survival.
On the other hand, Liverpool are strolling toward title number 20. Arne Slot’s side are 13 points clear at the top and still playing with fire. Sure, they slipped at Fulham recently, but that was their only away loss this season. They’ve been ruthless on the road — 35 points from 16 away games, the best in the league by a mile.
They’ve got eyes on lifting the trophy at Anfield next weekend, but they could seal the deal early if Arsenal fluff their lines at Ipswich on Sunday. Either way, don’t expect the Reds to take their foot off the gas here.
Liverpool have battered Leicester for fun in recent meetings — three goals in each of their last three games against them. And with the Foxes leaking goals like a sieve, it could be another long, miserable afternoon in the East Midlands.

Leicester vs. Liverpool predicted lineups, team news
The news is generally good for the Foxes, even if there’s little to gain from the remaining fixtures. Leicester City have Wout Faes and Jeremy Monga back in training and returned to full fitness, while Facundo Buonanette is available for selection after sitting out against his parent club.
Victor Kristiansen is also returning from his brief absence due to personal reasons, and Ricardo Pereira may finally be ready to start again after returning for four substitute appearances following five months out due to a serious hamstring injury.
That leaves only Abdul Fatawu sidelined with his knee injury, while Harry Winks remains an outcast reportedly due to a disagreement with Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Leicester City predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Hermansen (GK) — Pereira, Faes, Coady, Kristiansen — Ndidi, Soumare — McAteer, El Khannouss, Mavididi — Vardy.
Injured: Fatawu (knee), Souttar (Achilles)
Suspended: None.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has recovered from his ankle injury and has returned to Liverpool training. While Arne Slot ruled out the possibility of his sliding straight back into the starting XI, the Liverpool boss confirmed he could feature off the bench.
With Darwin Nunez also back from illness, it leaves only Joe Gomez as the lone Liverpool regular sidelined by injury.
Diogo Jota has started each of the past three games up front, but his poor form (one goal since returning from injury in early February) means Cody Gakpo could be given the start at striker.
Liverpool predicted XI (4-2-3-1, right to left): Alisson (GK) — Bradley, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson — Gravenberch, Mac Allister — Salah, Jones, L. Diaz — Gakpo.
Injured: Alexander-Arnold (ankle, doubt), Gomez (hamstring), Morton (shoulder).
Suspended: None.
