It looks like nobody can stop Newcastle United at the moment. The Toon Army has not looked back since lifting the Carabao Cup, their first domestic trophy in 56 years.
Their latest statement came in a 5-0 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday, April 16, extending their Premier League winning streak to five matches, cutting the gap to second-placed Arsenal to just four points and moving 4 points clear of the defending champion Manchester City, who are in 5th place currently.
Assistant coach Jason Tindall oversaw another commanding display in the absence of Head coach Eddie Howe, who was absent for a second straight game due to pneumonia.
“We spoke pre-game about maintaining the standards we set ourselves at the weekend, about being aggressive and on the front foot. I thought the players went about that and executed that brilliantly,” Tindall told BBC Match of the Day.
And now with six fixtures remaining, starting with Aston Villa on April 19, Newcastle is firmly in the hunt for a Champions League spot. Tindall made no secret of the club’s ambitions.

“That’s where we want to get to. Everybody in the Premier League wants to be in the Champions League. We’ve experienced it before and we want more of it,” he said.
“We’ve got six cup finals now remaining and we have to stay focused to be able to go out there and deliver the performances we know will help us to get Champions League.”
Newcastle have reached the Champions League group stage or beyond four times in their history. If they qualify for the 2025–26 season, it would mark their fifth appearance. Their last run in 2023/24 run marked the return to Europe’s premier competition after two decades.
