When the Chiefs picked up Kadarius Toney from the Giants, it was a low-risk, high-reward move.
It never really panned out, but Toney still got some serious hardware.
He finished the 2022 and 2023 regular seasons with Kansas City. And in both of those seasons, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl, so Toney has two rings.
Now, it appears Toney is hanging up his spikes in favor of a career change.
The embattled wide receiver took to Instagram Live on Thursday to announce his retirement, which he will use to pursue a rap career.
Toney’s rap name: Yung Joka.

The New York Giants drafted Toney with the No. 20 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft out of Florida.
Toney never delivered on his promise, though. He lasted less than two full seasons with New York.
He then spent a season and a half with the Chiefs, then played sparingly for the Cleveland Browns in 2024.
Now, it’s on to the next thing for Toney, who was known for his broken-tackle ability but was never a consistent enough pass catcher to show it off at the pro level.
His most effective season was his rookie year with the Giants in 2021. He had 39 catches for 420 yards.
Toney’s final NFL stat line, in 35 games, comes out to 82 catches for 760 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran 23 times for 115 yards and a score.
By the time he made it to the Chiefs, it wasn’t expected that he’d be a star. But some wondered whether Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes would help unlock his game.
Instead, they were just a ring-featuring way station on the path to Toney’s NFL exit.
