Wesley Bryan suspension, explained: Why PGA pro was punished for playing in LIV Golf influencer event

Professional golfer and content creator Wesley Bryan has been suspended by the PGA Tour for participating in a LIV Golf influencer event earlier this month.

Bryan, who has been on the PGA Tour since 2017, recently found fame as a content creator with his brother, George Bryan. As a result, the two were invited to participate in a LIV Golf event that paired the influencers with professionals on the LIV tour named The Duels: Miami.

The video was uploaded onto fellow content creator Grant Horvat’s YouTube page in early April and currently has over two million views.

Wesley Bryan PGA Tour suspension, explained

Because Bryan participated in the LIV Golf event while still being eligible for the PGA Tour, it gave the tour the power to suspend him. It is unclear how long Bryan will be suspended.

Bryan has leaned into being a content creator more lately, which includes participating in both Content Creator Classics since last year. This LIV Golf influencer tournament was its first since the tour’s inception and included some of the same influencers that played in the Content Creator Classic ahead of The Players in March.

According to Golf Digest, the PGA Tour warned all influencers ahead of the LIV Golf event that those who participated could be subject to discipline. However, Bryan said he has no regrets about participating in the event.

“No, I don’t have regrets,” he told Ryan French. “That video is one of the most powerful videos in YouTube golf.”

Who is Wesley Bryan?

Wesley Bryan is a 35-year-old professional golfer who has gained popularity as a YouTube content creator. Bryan won the RBC Heritage tournament in 2017, but that has been his only win on the tour since becoming a professional.

However, Bryan and his brother, George Bryan, have teamed up to create YouTube videos, which have gained popularity in recent years. Still, Bryan has participated in three PGA Tour events this season, most recently in the Puerto Rico Open in early March.

Wesley Bryan career earnings

According to the PGA Tour website, Bryan has earned $5.7 million while playing on the PGA Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour in his career. That does not include the money he has made through his and his brother’s YouTube videos.
