Detroit Lion’s star Malcolm Rodriguez caught belting Whitney Houston in cringe video shared by wife

It doesn’t look like Detroit Lions linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez will have a future career as a singer if the NFL doesn’t work out for him.

On Tuesday, the NFL player’s wife, Kennedy Frazier, shared a video of him belting out one of Whitney Houston’s greatest hits on her Instagram Stories, and it wasn’t a pretty sight.

The cringe video showcased Rodriguez singing “I will Always Love You,” while driving a vehicle.

His wife captioned the post, “unfortunately I do not think American Idol is in his future,” alongside a skull emoji.

The 26-year-old linebacker didn’t hold back when he sang the verse, “And I will always love you.”

During the short clip, he repeated the verse several times while sounding quite proud of his vocal skills.

At the end of the video, Rodriguez held up his hands into an ok gesture.

We can’t help but wonder what everyone else thought about the 26-year-old’s singing talents, as there are no public comments left on Instagram Stories.

Malcolm Rodriguez married Kennedy Frazier in 2024

Rodriguez married Frazier during the summer of 2024.

They announced their engagement a year prior, in June 2023. At the time, Malcolm shared a lengthy post on Instagram announcing his engagement with the caption, “When you know, you know.”

“I can’t even begin to tell you how blessed I am to be asking you to marry me. I can’t express to you enough how much joy and love you bring in our relationship and thank the man above for his perfect timing with you,” Malcolm wrote.

“Years I have prayed and waited to find someone like you that is as loving, compassionate, honest, and wholehearted as you. The list can go on and on about you. You bring out the best in me and I can’t wait to marry my best friend,” he wrote in the sweet post.

The couple welcomed their first child, Mia Jane Rodriguez, in March.

Rodriguez recently gave an injury update after suffering a torn ACL last season

Singing isn’t the only thing keeping the NFL linebacker busy these days. He’s also recovering from a major injury.

Rodriguez recently took to social media to update Lions fans on his rehab after suffering a torn ACL in a Thanksgiving matchup against the Chicago Bears.

Fans hope he will be well enough to return to the field this season.

Several people took to the comments section of a post on X showing Rodriguez working out to express their excitement about his progress.

One person commented, “4 months from date of injury? CRAZY!!!!! Perfect example of someone who has the mental and physical ability to get back ASAP. People are getting ready to see the determination and drive a lot of people already knew he had.”

Another person said, “Love this guy! DEFINITION OF GRIT.”

Someone else wrote, “Rodrigoooooooo We’re all rooting for you!!!!”

He’s currently entering the final year of his contract and is slated to star as the No. 4 linebacker behind Jack Campbell, Alex Anzalone, and Derrick Barnes, who’s also returning from an injury.

A strong return could help him get interest as a starter from another team in free agency if he winds up there.
