Pistons taking drastic measures to keep Knicks fans out of home playoff games

The Detroit Pistons have been waiting quite a long time for a home playoff game, so you can hardly blame the franchise for taking some drastic measures to make sure Pistons fans will pack Little Caesars Arena.

According to Yahoo! Sports, the Pistons have restricted purchases for all possible home games of the first round matchup with the New York Knicks (Games 3, 4 and 6) to “those who have a credit card billing address located in Michigan and in certain parts of Ohio, Indiana and Ontario, Canada.”

Knicks fans, of course, have a long history of traveling well to support their team. There were times last year when Philadelphia sounded an awful lot like Madison Square Garden, and the Pistons don’t want their hard-earned return to the playoffs speared by young star Cade Cunningham to be spoiled by a rowdy Knicks crowd.

It’s a worthy effort, but it doesn’t seem as though there is anything in place to prevent Knicks fans from simply buying tickets on the secondary market.

The Pistons haven’t been in the postseason since the 2018-19 season, and haven’t won a home playoff game since the 2007-08 season. It’s safe to say that fans around Detroit have been waiting for the opportunity to see a home playoff win for a long time.

The first-round series between the Knicks and Pistons will start off at Madison Square Garden in New York on Saturday.
