Arsenal handed major injury boost ahead of Champions League quarter-final clash against Real Madrid

Arsenal are going to Madrid with a 3-0 lead over Real Madrid in the second leg of the quarter-final of the Champions League on April 16.

The upcoming clash is especially crucial for Arsenal as they have a chance to qualify for the Champions League semi-final after 16 long seasons.

Despite having a significant advantage, Arsenal will be hoping to have all odds in their favor against Real Madrid, who are known for their comebacks in the Champions League. And now, it appears the Gunners have received an injury boost ahead of the clash.

Which Arsenal players are returning to action against Real Madrid?

Arsenal have had their fair share of injury woes this season, and the Gunners added Thomas Partey and Jorginho to their list after their 1-1 draw against Brentford on Saturday.

Jorginho sustained a chest injury against the Bees and will be unable to make the trip to Santiago Bernabeu, according to The Mirror.

However, good news awaits Arsenal fans as, despite picking up a muscle injury over the weekend, Partey was spotted in team training and will be traveling to Madrid with the Gunners squad, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Several reports suggested that Ben White was also seen in training with the squad and might be available for the clash against Real Madrid. The English defender suffered an injury before kick-off against Brentford and had to be sidelined.

What did Thomas Partey say ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League clash?

After scoring the sole goal for Arsenal on Saturday, Partey had to leave the pitch after picking up a knock. Speaking after the Premier League clash, the Ghanaian star established how focused the Gunners are to bag the win against Real Madrid.

Partey mentioned (via OneFootball) that the upcoming match is one of Arsenal’s most significant games and highlighted that confidence is the key for them.

“Well, I think it’s going to be one of the biggest games (for Arsenal) with the situation and the mentality and the need we have. I think we have to be confident, we have to go there and play our game and try to win. It’s very difficult, it’s not going to be easy, we know how good they are and the quality they have from back to front so as I said we have to be confident to play our game and try to win.”

“We have confidence in our game. We’ve been playing the whole season and I don’t think it will be different we just have to be confident to get the ball from them and keep the ball and try to attack them,” concluded Partey.

Arsenal have a short but great record against Real Madrid now, as the Gunners have never lost against them so far. The clubs have faced each other on three occasions, with the English club winning two and the other ending in a draw.
