The Baltimore Orioles are off to a bit of a slow start in 2025, owning a 6-9 record through 15 games. They are only 2 1/2 games back of first place, but it is a concerning start nonetheless.
Baltimore won 91 games last year and secured the top American League Wild Card spot before being swept by the Kansas City Royals in the first round. They were a 101-win team in 2023.
Interestingly, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic listed nine managers that could be on the chopping block if 2025 goes south. Orioles manager Brandon Hyde was one of them.
“The Orioles ended the 2024 regular season in a 34-38 swoon, then were swept at home by the Kansas City Royals in the wild-card round. Like the Twins, they’ve also started slowly in 2025,” Rosenthal wrote.
The Orioles have a lot of pitchers on the injured list at the present moment, so that could certainly be playing a role in their slow start.

If the Orioles continue to struggle though, it’s always a possibility that they could go in a different direction in terms of their next manager.
They have had success under Hyde. He has helped transform them into a contending club and has even taken them to the postseason in back-to-back years, so a change would be shocking.
Still, the Orioles haven’t had much postseason success, so that could potentially spark a change if that’s the route they decide to go.
It will be interesting to see if Baltimore can recover from its rocky start. if they can, Hyde is likely safe, but nothing is certain at the present moment.
