NBA Player Prop Picks for April 4

Prop #1 Scottie Barnes Over 16.5 points vs Pistons (-104 at FanDuel)

The Raptors’ young star in the making is staggering down the home stretch. With Toronto in the midst of playing their stars and leaning into the tank (if that makes sense), Scottie Barnes game is way off course.

He finished the last game against Portland with five points on 2-for-8 shooting, marking the third straight game he’s put up single-digit score lines. To put that into context, he’s only had two sub-10 scoring games all season before this funk.

He’s gone under his total of 16.5 in five of the last six, the same time, his minutes have been trimmed, as he’s played in 28 minutes or less in those games. Perhaps a meeting with Detroit helps him bounce back: he’s scored 17 or more points against the Pistons in three of his last four games.

Prop #2 Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Over 31.5 points vs Rockets (-125 at DraftKings)

The heavy favorite in the NBA MVP odds, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander keeps dropping buckets in high volume. He dropped 33 points despite shooting just 38.5% from the field last time out against Detroit, marking the fourth time in five games he’s scored at least 32 points.

SGA was dynamite in March, averaging 34.7 points on a crisp 51.7% shooting from the field, 41.3% from beyond the arc, and 92.9% from the stripe. The last time he lined up against Houston, Gilgeous-Alexander hung 51 on them. It marked the third straight meeting he scored at least 32 points and the eighth time in the last 12 head-to-heads.

With an MVP season to close out, there should be no slowing him down.

Prop #3 Anthony Davis Over 8.5 rebounds vs Clippers (-120 at Bet365)

Anthony Davis finally looked like his dominant self last time out against the Hawks, pouring in 34 points and grabbing 15 rebounds, and hitting the game-winner in a Mavericks’ 120-118 win. Davis was given a gettable 8.5 rebound line Friday against the Clippers, as Atlanta was the first time AD pulled down nine or more rebounds in the five games since returning from injury.

But Davis has been a rebounding machine against the Clippers and should be able to challenge that line. AD has had six straight double-digit rebounding games against Clips and has topped this total nine times in his last 10 meetings with LA.

Even with Dallas getting its frontcourt reassembled from injury, expect Davis to be the big man on the boards.
