Lakers’ LeBron James to revive ‘Mind the Game’ podcast with legendary new co-host, JJ Redick replacement

Four-time NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James announced the return of his popular podcast, ‘Mind the Game,’ on Wednesday, though it will look slightly different this time around.

The Lakers are currently fighting for a guaranteed spot in the 2025 NBA Playoffs with both James and rookie head coach JJ Redick, who was a former co-host on the critically acclaimed show.

With Redick putting all of his focus on the team’s strategy heading into a hopeful postseason run, former two-time league MVP and 7-time All-NBA Team selection point guard Steve Nash has reportedly been selected to take Redick’s spot on the show moving forward.

“LeBron James is relaunching the “Mind the Game” podcast with a new basketball brain to pick at,” ESPN’s Dave McMenamin and Shams Charania wrote Wednesday morning.

“Two-time MVP Steve Nash will be James’ co-host on Season 2 of the podcast, which will debut Tuesday, sources told ESPN.”

“The first season of “Mind the Game” was an immediate success, averaging 1.5 million views per episode and quickly amassing more than 500,000 subscribers on YouTube.”

By replacing Redick with one of the greatest passers and basketball minds in league history, it’s plausible to believe that the show could only grow in popularity with Nash’s addition.

Sitting opposite James to break down film and discuss the ‘X’s and O’s’ of the game, Nash could serve as a wonderful co-host by offering his opinion on the effectiveness of certain actions run by teams in today’s NBA.

‘Mind the Game’ originally took off due to its strict focus on diagramming sets that the league’s brightest coaches have their players perform on a nightly basis, something Nash will likely be adept at explaining due to his legendary playing career and experience as head coach of the Brooklyn Nets from 2020-2022.

James and Redick have also announced the planned return date for the show via Twitter/X, with the first episode featuring Nash expected to be released on Apr. 1.
