Former 76ers center shreds current roster as Philadelphia falls further down NBA standings

The Philadelphia 76ers have had an awful season, and are looking like they will be a top lottery pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. Former Sixers center Paul Reed has something to say about their poor performance this season, and it wasn’t nice.

“They thought I was the problem,” Reed posted on X, quote tweeting a post from Keith Pompey about how the Sixers have moved into a fifth-place tie for last place in the NBA standings.

Reed was drafted by the Sixers in 2020, and played for them until the end of last season. He was the main backup to the Sixers’ main superstar Joel Embiid, and played a lot of minutes in the 2023-24 season.

In his four years with the Sixers, Reed averaged 5.1 points, four rebounds, 0.8 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game.

So why does Reed think the Sixers thought he was the problem? Probably due to the fact the Sixers re-signed him to a multi-year contract, then waived him this past offseason to bring back veteran center Andre Drummond.

After he was waived, the Detroit Pistons signed Reed, where he averages 4.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, 0.9 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game.

Was Reed truly the problem? After how this season played out, definitely not. The Sixers definitely have a lot to address this offseason, as their future is on the line.
