Leicester City vs. Man United lineups, starting 11, confirmed team news, injuries: Maguire still out against old club

Manchester United head to Leicester City on Sunday for their final game before the March international break.

Ruben Amorim oversaw the best performance of his tenure on Thursday this week as United thrashed Real Sociedad 4-1 to win their UEFA Europa League Round of 16 tie 5-2 on aggregate.

He will now hope to see his side build on their recent momentum against a Leicester side for whom relegation from the Premier League is beginning to look very likely.

The Foxes start the weekend six points from safety with 10 games remaining, with former United striker and interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy losing 12 of his league matches in charge, including each of the past five.

The Sporting News looks at the latest team news and predicted lineups.

Issahaku Fatawu‘s serious knee injury makes him the only major absentee for Van Nistelrooy.

The Foxes experimented with a back three and wingbacks against Chelsea and managed to contain the Blues for long spells, so they may well stick with that formation to match up against United’s 3-4-2-1 system.

Leicester City starting lineup (3-4-2-1, right to left): Hermansen (GK) — Faes, Coady, Thomas — Justin, Ndidi, Soumare, Kristiansen — Daka, El Khannouss — Vardy.

Injured: Fatawu (knee).
Suspended: None.

Amorim said last week that he hoped to have Harry Maguire and Manuel Ugarte available for this game, with both having missed United’s past three matches. Ugarte returns to the starting lineup, but Maguire remains out against his former club.

Mason Mount is also nearing a return after 12 weeks out with a hamstring injury, but it feels more likely he will be given the international break to build up more fitness before playing again.

Patrick Dorgu must serve the last of his three-game domestic ban, and Amorim must decide whether to make any additional changes from the win over Real Sociedad on Thursday.

Man United starting lineup (3-4-2-1, right to left): Onana (GK) — De Ligt, Lindelof, Heaven — Mazraoui, Ugarte, Eriksen, Dalot — Garnacho, Fernandes — Hojlund.

Injured: Martinez (knee), Amad Diallo (ankle), Shaw (calf), Mainoo (muscle), Yoro (foot), Bayindir (undisc.), Evans (back).
Suspended: Dorgu (red card).
