LeBron James misses Lakers loss to watch suspenseful outcome in son Bryce’s state championship game

LeBron James is nursing a groin injury, and with him unavailable, the Los Angeles Lakers allowed him to skip out on their Friday night game entirely.

Instead, James attended the CIF high school state championship game between Sierra Canyon and Lincoln in Sacramento, California.

That’s because James’ youngest son, Bryce, plays for Sierra Canyon.

It had the potential to be a particularly special night, given that older son Bronny didn’t win a state title in his time at Sierra Canyon.

And after heavy underdog Lincoln led nearly the entire way, Sierra Canyon found a way across the finish line for a state championship in a 58-53 win that ended on a 10-3 run.

James attended the game with his wife Savannah and daughter Zuri, with the trio sitting courtside. LeBron and Savannah could be seen getting super excited down the stretch after Sierra Canyon completed its comeback. His groin certainly looks healthy here.

Bryce, a senior committed to Arizona, made his biggest play to tie the game at 29-29 in the third quarter on a hop-step reverse layup.

King James is no stranger to state championship games. He played in four of them for St. Vincent-St. Mary High School (Akron, Ohio) and won three. His title game loss to Roger Bacon High School in 2002 is so famous that ESPN made a documentary about it.
