We’re a little over 48 hours away from the NFL opening the floodgates of free agency this week. The Pittsburgh Steelers made headlines this offseason with their power moves.
The Steelers acquired Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf and signed him to a five-year, $150 million extension. This move made him one of the highest-paid wide receivers in the NFL to date.
The move to Pittsburgh for Metcalf came out of left field.
The former Seahawks wide receiver reportedly had some demands on where he wanted to go when he requested a trade from the team that drafted him.
Metcalf reportedly wanted warmer weather, a chance to compete for a championship, and a team with a quarterback locked in.
The Steelers finished 10-7 in 2024, the same record as the Seahawks. They were a first-round exit in the playoffs. They don’t have a solid quarterback situation, as both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson are set to hit the market as free agents.
Lastly, winters in Pennsylvania are not the warmest either.
As this trade seems to make little sense to NFL fans, they decided to hop on social media and make a joke out of it all, especially when it comes to Metcalf being paired with Steelers wideout George Pickens.

DK Metcalf will now get to play for a team that went 10-7 in 2024 instead of his previous team that went 10-7 in 2024.
