Chiefs could acquire D.K. Metcalf from Seahawks for 2025 first-rounder, more

One doesn’t have to ask if the Kansas City Chiefs are all-in on winning a Super Bowl in 2025. But this offseason might present them with a chance to prove it.

Wide receiver is a question mark for the Chiefs to begin the upcoming season. Rashee Rice is facing a possible suspension, while DeAndre Hopkins and Hollywood Brown are both headed to free agency, leaving only Xavier Worthy locked into a spot.

Fortunately, Wednesday may have given the Chiefs an ideal solution. Seattle Seahawks superstar D.K. Metcalf reportedly requested a trade, instantly vaulting him to the top of the list of available pass-catchers.

Metcalf averages over 1,050 receiving yards per season so far in his six-year career, and he’s still only 27. But he’s entering the final year of his contract, so how much could it really cost to trade for him?

According to Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport, the Seahawks’ trade demands are still likely to be quite high. Davenport’s hypothetical Chiefs offer, published Wednesday, was a 2025 first-round pick (number 31 overall) and a 2026 fifth-rounder.

“The Kansas City Chiefs won their fifth AFC Championship Game in six years in 2024. But outside of second-year pro Xavier Worthy, the team’s wide receiver corps is one big question mark,” Davenport wrote.

“If (general manager Brett) Veach is willing to throw the 31st overall pick in the deal, the Chiefs could be onto something.”

Metcalf is owed $31.9 million this upcoming season, so taking on that money in addition to losing their first-rounder might give Veach and the Chiefs some pause.

But it’s been a while since Kansas City had the league’s most explosive offense. Bringing Metcalf into the fold might just vault them back to the top of the heap.
