Future Yankees stars show future is bright with Spring Training highlights

Jasson Dominguez could be patrolling centerfield for the New York Yankees as soon as Opening Day. Spencer Jones might not take too long to join him somewhere in the outfield.

Both showed their immense promise with shining examples of potential during the Yankees’ Spring Training game on Tuesday.

Dominguez flexed his tantalizing power-speed combo. He crushed an opposite-field home run to left-center, and he also beat out an infield single running 30.4 feet per second.

Jones yanked a pitch out to right field for a home run of his own.

Dominguez has already played parts of 26 games in the majors across the past two seasons, but his expected breakout could come this season in more full-time action. He’s ranked the No. 21 prospect in baseball by MLB.com.

Jones is more divisive, as the 6-foot-6 slugger has a lot of swing-and-miss in his game. He struck out 200 times in the minors last season, but he also ripped 30 doubles and 17 home runs.

The Yankees, of course, have had success with one gargantuan, homegrown outfielder before in the form of Aaron Judge, so they won’t give up on Jones anytime soon.

New York’s 12-3 Tuesday win over the Phillies also featured one veteran joining the home run party: Paul Goldschmidt, who the Yankees signed this offseason to be their first baseman.
