The Oklahoma City Thunder pretty much have a super team with the potential for a dynasty, but there is a possibility they turn that ‘pretty much’ into definitely this offseason. According to Fadeaway World’s Eddie Bitar, the Thunder are predicted to trade for New Orleans Pelicans superstar forward Zion Williamson. The trade would look like this:
Oklahoma City Thunder get: Zion Williamson, Jeremiah Robinson-Earl
New Orleans Pelicans get: Isaiah Joe, Aaron Wiggins, Kenrich Williams, Nikola Topic, 2028 First-Round Pick (DAL)
“The Thunder have built a near-perfect modern NBA roster, but what they lack is a dominant interior presence who can take over games physically. Zion could be that missing piece. Imagine him running alongside MVP favorite Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (32.4 PPG) and Chet Holmgren—two stars who complement his game beautifully,” Bitar wrote.
The Thunder getting Williamson would be the perfect inside presence for the Thunder. Most of the Thunder favor a perimeter-oriented offense, so having a dominant inside game as well prevents opposing teams from just guarding the three-point line.
This trade could benefit both sides. The Thunder get that last piece that solidifies them as a dynasty and super team, and the Pelicans get a bunch of young, solid players with tons of potential, and a pick to help them rebuild. The only problem for the Thunder with this trade is Williamson’s availability, as he has a problem staying healthy.
Hopefully the Thunder still consider this trade, and find a way to get it done. It could be their one out of house move this offseason, and it would be the only one they need to make.
