Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim had a fighting message after their FA Cup exit at the hands of Fulham.
Amorim’s chances of a domestic trophy were ended on a marathon night at Old Trafford as the Red Devils saw their FA Cup title defence ended by Marco Silva.
Bruno Fernandes’ second-half goal dragged a poor United side into extra time and a penalty shootout in Manchester but they suffered spot kick heartbreak against the Cottagers.

Victor Lindelof and Joshua Zirkzee were both denied by Bernd Leno, as Fulham progressed into the quarterfinals, and United miss out on a last eight spot for just the second time in 11 seasons.
Defeat heightens the focus on Amorim’s mixed start as United boss with the UEFA Europa League now representing his sole chance of winning silverware in 2025 – ahead of facing Real Sociedad – with his team stuck in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
Amorim has developed a reputation for bold answers in press conferences since arriving in Manchester in November and the former Sporting CP boss had an upbeat message for his players and the suffering United fans.
“I think we had the best chances in the game. In the end, penalties can go both ways, and today wasn’t our way,” he told BBC Sport after the game.
“The goal [for us] is to win the Premier League. I know we are losing games, but the goal is to win the Premier League again. I don’t know how long it will take. We have a goal and we continue forward no matter what.
“It’s impossible to know, but you start understanding the players are better and we understand the league better. We’ll see in the future.”
United head to San Sebastian to face La Real – who were hammered 4-0 by Barcelona this weekend – on March 5, before a home EPL clash with Arsenal three days later.
