Jesper Sorensen’s debut as Vancouver’s head coach couldn’t have gone much better—a 4-1 dismantling of Portland, fueled by relentless attacking play and a first-half red card for the Timbers.

LA Galaxy, on the other hand, had a rough opening weekend, falling 2-0 to expansion side San Diego FC.
