The Miami Heat may not need to work through a re-tooling process after the latest rumors that surfaced on the NBA trade block.
The Heat are looking ahead to a future without former All-Star Jimmy Butler. After dealing Butler to the Golden State Warriors, Miami is now led by All-Star Tyler Herro, former All-Stars Andrew Wiggins and Bam Adebayo, and promising young stars in Kel’El Ware and Nikola Jovic. Yet, a two-time NBA MVP may desire to join their ranks in the summer.
Milwaukee Bucks former Defensive Player of the Year Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future with his current franchise will hang on how successful they are in this coming playoffs:
“Per (Bill Reiter), Giannis Antetokounmpo has reportedly been eyeing the Miami Heat as a potential destination should things go south in Milwaukee,” Miami Heatle shared on X.
“Giannis has already let some people know that places he’s eyeing are Miami and New York.”
After winning the 2021 Finals, Antetokounmpo has not been past the second round since. The “Greek Freak” voiced his displeasure with the Bucks after their slow start to the current campaign. Though Milwaukee bounced back and are the No. 5 seed in the East at 29-24, they have not been the same since Jrue Holiday departed for the Boston Celtics. Milwaukee also just traded away franchise pillar Khris Middleton to the Washington Wizards.
Thus, if the Bucks fail to win the title, Antetokounmpo may demand a trade to the Heat. Should that take place, Miami could make Wiggins and sharpshooter Duncan Robinson the centerpieces of a deal, while also sending a hoard of first and second-round picks to Miami for the nine-time All-Star. The Heat have six first-rounders and four second-rounders between now and 2031.
Should the Heat be able to acquire the 30-year-old and retain Herro and Adebayo, they’d have an elite offensive trio and arguably the best defensive frontcourt in the Association.
