Trent Alexander-Arnold smashes Steven Gerrard’s 18-year Premier League Liverpool record

Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold is set for a strong end to the 2024/25 season as Arne Slot chases three trophies at Anfield.

The Reds are through to the EFL Cup final on March 16 and have opened up a seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League rankings alongside finishing top of the UEFA Champions League first phase standings.

Alexander-Arnold’s future remains a major topic of fan conversation on the red side of Merseyside as his contract expires in June alongside teammates Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah.

Despite the lack of progress over a potential renewal, Alexander-Arnold looks determined to play a key role in Liverpool’s push for silverware, and he set another benchmark in the weekend win over Wolves.

Slot’s charges were forced to dig deep in the closing stages as first-half goals from Luis Diaz and Salah proved enough to wrap up all three points against Vitor Pereira’s visitors.

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s new Liverpool record

His start against Wolves was the 26-year-old’s 250th Premier League appearance for Liverpool and breaks an 18-year record held by iconic captain Steven Gerrard.

He reached the 250-game mark aged  26 years and 132 days, at 68 days before Gerrard did it back in 2006, and he is currently 10th on  the club’s all-time EPL appearances list.

Alexander-Arnold is also second on Liverpool’s EPL assist list, with 64, and No.1 for defenders in the wider Premier League list.

Gerrard has recently joined the list of Liverpool legends encouraging Alexander-Arnold to sign a contract renewal at the club – with the defender already winning the league title which eluded Gerrard in his impressive career – but the situation remains unresolved between him staying or joining Real Madrid in June.
