Is Matthew Tkachuk injured?

It appears as though Tkachuk suffered an injury at some point in the game against Canada, however, it is unclear what the ailment is or how the USA star was hurt.

Tkachuk was seen skating circles during a TV timeout, appearing to try and work through whatever was bothering him. He went out for another shift, came back to the bench and had a short conversation with coaches Mike Sullivan and John Tortorella, shaking his head and moving his way to the end of the bench — typically, a sign of a player that is not expected to go out on the ice.

Tkachuk never went down the tunnel for further evaluation, electing to stay on the bench for the back half of the third period. Tkachuk finished with 11:10 of ice time against Canada, recording three shots on goal, two hits and the fight against Hagel.

J.T. Miller ended up taking Tkachuk’s spot on the line with Matthew’s brother, Brady, and Jack Eichel as the United States held on for a 3-1 win over rival Canada.

After the game, Tkachuk said that he was doing “OK” and that were was “no concern” with whatever held him out of the final 12 minutes of play.
