When the NASCAR Truck Series kicks off in Daytona this weekend, there will be a familiar face driving one of the cars.
Actor Frankie Muniz, known for his role in the hit show “Malcolm in the Middle,” will be driving as racing season begins. The former child actor has turned his love of racing into a career, leading to this season in which he will be participating in the Truck Series.
Here’s a breakdown of Frankie Muniz’s racing career and how he he turned from child actor into NASCAR driver.

Why is Frankie Muniz racing in NASCAR Truck Series?
Muniz has always been a fan of racing, but he recently pursued the dream of becoming a professional driver. After participating in celebrity races in the 2000s, Muniz began his professional racing career in 2021 and worked his way up the professional ranks.
While competing in the ARCA Menards Series in 2023, Muniz had 11 top-10 finishes and one top-five finish. In October of 2024, Muniz signed with Reaume Brothers Racing to race in the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.
“I don’t want to say it’s a long time coming, but this has been a dream of mine for forever,” Muniz told People.com.
Although Muniz began his professional career as an actor, he is fully committed to being a full-time racer.
“I want people to know that I’ve literally dedicated my life to this,” he said, via People.com. “You know what I mean? I love it. When I’m not in the race car, I’m thinking about being in the race car. I’m training, I’m in the simulator at Ford, the Ford Performance Technical Center. I’m working with my engineers and my crew chiefs and the team and doing everything I can. Watching tape, watching past races at the racetracks I’m going to just to be as prepared as humanly possible.”
Last year, Muniz competed in two NASCAR Xfinity Series races, with his best finish being 105th. In his first Xfinity series race, Muniz crashed out of the race.

What car does Frankie Muniz drive?
Muniz will be driving the Ford No. 33 Reaume Brothers Racing during the 2025 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this year.
