Packers trade prediction adds Jets 6-time Pro Bowler in move Josh Jacobs would love

The Green Bay Packers managed to win two more games during the 2024 regular season than they did in 2023 but still took a step backwards in the playoffs after going one-and-done.

If the Packers want to improve their chances of advancing in 2025, they need to add a No. 1 wide receiver. The Packers have a slew of promising young wideouts but don’t have a reliable top target for quarterback Jordan Love.

And that’s something running back Josh Jacobs rightly pointed out recently. He took a lot of flak for it, but Jacobs was 100% accurate in his assessment of the Packers’ wide receivers group.

“We’ve got a really young group of receivers,” he told 97.3 The Game. “All can be really, really, really special, but I think personally we need a guy that’s proven to be a No. 1 already, somebody that we know is going to be a little bit more consistent.”

With the Packers’ need for a No. 1 wide receiver, TWSN’s Marissa Myers predicts the team will strike a deal for a familiar face: New York Jets wideout Davante Adams.

“While Adams is 32, that plays towards Green Bay’s benefit. The Packers have a younger team with Jordan Love under center throwing to Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks,” Myers wrote. “With adding Adams he would help provide veteran leadership to the offense and team in general, while also being able to help the young receivers develop as needed to ensure the Packers window stays open. For Adams, who will be close to retirement, going back to Green Bay to end his career where he started would be the ideal way for him to end his career.”

Adams’ future with the Jets remains uncertain, but after a recent report that stated the team is going to part ways with Aaron Rodgers, chances are Adams will be gone, also. Now, it remains to be seen if he’ll be cut or traded. Either way, the Packers should have interest.

Despite playing in just 14 games and having a lackluster quarterback situation with the Las Vegas Raiders before he was traded to the Jets, Adams still managed to top 1,000 yards with a strong finish to the season that showed the 32-year-old still has what it takes to lead a wide receivers room.

Not only would Adams give the Packers the No. 1 option they need, he could also serve as a mentor to the team’s young pass-catchers. Adams has also expressed how impressed he has been with Love.

“At the time when I was (in Green Bay), I hadn’t necessarily seen enough to say this is for sure what I should do,” he said of leaving the Packers. “But in hindsight, like we talked about, (Love) is a f—— baller, man. I’m so happy for him.”

With a chance to join a contending team and work with Love, it’s safe to say Adams wouldn’t mind going back to his old stomping grounds.
