When do Yankees report to spring training? New York’s report dates, roster for 2025

The New York Yankees are just about set to defend their American League pennant just months after falling short in the World Series.

Led by superstars Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, the Yankees held the best record in the American League at 94-68.

En route to their first World Series appearance since 2009, they defeated the Kansas City Royals in the Divisional Round (3-to-1) and the Cleveland Guardians in the Championship Series (4-to-1).

Despite the hype, the Yankees turned out to be no match for the juggernaut Los Angeles Dodgers, who handled the Yankees with ease in five games.

During the offseason, Soto found a new home and a $765 million contract with the crosstown-rival Mets. This heartbreaking result led the Yankees toward a pivot in philosophy as general manager Brian Cashman improved the run prevention with additions such as Max Fried and Devin Williams to bolster the pitching staff.

The Yankees then focused on adding to the offense, acquiring a pair of former MVPs in Cody Bellinger and Paul Goldschmidt.

With spring training just around the corner, here’s a look at the report dates and the full roster for the Yankees in 2025:

When does Yankees spring training start?

The Yankees will return to action at George M. Steinbrenner Field this month as they look forward to another spring in the Grapefruit League.

Pitchers and catchers for the Yankees are set to report Tuesday, Feb. 11 with the first workout taking place Feb. 12.

Meanwhile, position players are set to report Sunday, Feb. 16 with the first full-squad workout set for Monday, Feb. 17.

When do Yankees play first spring training game?

The Yankees will open up play in the Grapefruit League on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at Steinbrenner Field, hosting their division-mate Tampa Bay Rays at 1:05 p.m. ET. Coincidentally, the Rays are scheduled to play their regular-season home games at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa.

This is because Tropicana Field, their home ballpark in St. Petersburg, suffered extensive damage from Hurricane Milton in October.
