Bucks named potential landing spot for ex-Lakers guard via buyout

The trade deadline may be over, but there is still an opportunity for teams to add to their rosters. For example, if a contending team wants to add more depth before the playoffs, that team can look towards the buyout market.

There are a number of players that are eligible for a buyout. Ben Simmons is one of the most notable names, but there are other players out there that could find a new home in the near future. One name to keep an eye on is someone that is currently not in the NBA, but with an interesting clause in his contract, his return could happen sooner rather than later.

Bleacher Report mentioned Lonnie Walker as a buyout candidate that can receive interest from contending teams such as the Milwaukee Bucks.

Walker is a guard for Zalgiris Kaunas of the Lithuanian Basketball League and the EuroLeague. He is averaging 13.6 points and 3.2 rebounds in Euroleague. He joined Zalgiris Kaunas after he was waived by the Boston Celtics during the offseason. He spent time with the Brooklyn Nets before becoming a free agent and the Celtics signed him to a one-year deal.

The 26-year-old is playing well in his current situation, and NBA teams are noticing.

Bleacher Report brought up the Bucks because he does not have the salary restrictions other candidates have. Then, he gives Milwaukee depth, which is never a bad thing for a contending team.

Marc Stein reported that Walker has an escape clause in his EuroLeague contract and he has until Feb. 18 to use it. If he does use it, the Bucks could be a legitimate option.

Milwaukee is on the right track, and Walker could be an option worth pursuing.
