With the 2024-25 trade season concluding on Thursday, franchises have started to focus on the buyout market.
The Los Angeles Lakers undoubtedly had a productive trade season, acquiring Dorian Finney-Smith, Luka Doncic, and Mark Williams before the deadline.
Still, if his current team buys him out, the organization could acquire a former Philadelphia 76ers guard and add valuable perimeter shooting.
“The Lakers are limited in who they could add,” Bleacher Report’s Timothy Rapp wrote Thursday.
“Bruce Brown would have been a fantastic potential target, but he’s not available to apron teams given his salary. Josh Richardson, Seth Curry, Reggie Jackson, or perhaps even Lonnie Walker IV, who is currently playing in Europe– are possibilities.”
Curry, who spent one and half seasons with the 76ers earlier in his career, isn’t one of the Charlotte Hornets’ go-to offensive weapons this year.
However, the Duke product continues to light it up from beyond the arc, averaging 5.4 points per contest on an incredible 45.1% shooting from long-range.
Although Curry is more of a catch-and-shoot specialist than an off-the-dribble sniper, he can catch fire from deep after creating space on the perimeter.
For his career, the 34-year-old guard has shot above 40% from downtown on nine occasions, making him an established three-point threat in the big leagues.
With Doncic’s ability to break down defenses and find teammates in advantageous positions, Curry would likely continue his three-point shooting hot streak.
Los Angeles has every reason to be thrilled with its current roster, but if Curry becomes available on the buyout market, the Lakers should consider aggressively pursuing him.
