NBA trade tracker: Latest news, rumors before 2025 deadline
Lakers land coveted big man for Luka Doncic in late-night blockbuster
Date: Feb. 6
Source: Shams Charania, ESPN
The Lakers have acquired center Mark Williams from the Hornets in exchange for Dalton Knecht, Cam Reddish, L.A.’s 2031 unprotected first-round draft pick and a 2030 pick swap.
Williams, 23, is viewed as the young big man the Lakers were missing to complement newly acquired Luka Doncic in L.A.’s new-look starting five. Acquiring the 2022 15th overall pick came at a cost of basically all of Los Angeles’ remaining tradable assets, including Knecht, the 17th overall pick in the 2024 draft.
Pelicans send Brandon Ingram to Raptors
Date: Feb. 5

NBA insider Chris Haynes provided updates as the trade solidified, and Charania posted the trade itself. The deal sends Ingram to Toronto, and Bruce Brown Jr., Kelly Olynyk, a first-round pick and a second-round pick head back to New Orleans.
Knicks deal Jericho Sims to Bucks
Date: Feb. 5

The swap, which sees Sims head to Milwaukee in exchange for Delon Wright and cash, is part of the larger trade sending Kyle Kuzma to the Bucks and Khris Middleton to the Wizards.
Suns prepared to stand pat
Date: Feb. 5
Source: Chris Haynes, NBA Insider
Despite much discussion swirling around star forward Kevin Durant, Phoenix was “always prepared to venture into second half of season with the core roster in place,” Haynes reported Wednesday night.
Lonzo Ball, Bulls agree to two-year contract extension’
Date: Feb. 5
Source: Shams Charania, ESPN
Amid whispers of a potential trade elsewhere, it seems Lonzo Ball’s future will remain in the Windy City. The Bulls guard inked a two-year, $20 million extension to remain with the Bulls, spelling an end to the trade rumors which have swirled around the dogged defender and playmaker as of late.
Ball returned to the court after a two-year absence due to knee injuries. He’s yet to hit his pre-injury rhythm, although he’s shown flashes in limited minutes. Ball is averaging 7.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists on 36.2 percent shooting (34 percent from three) this season.
Warriors land Jimmy Butler
Date: Feb. 5
Source: Shams Charania, ESPN
The Warriors landed their secondary star late Wednesday night, agreeing to a deal with the Heat to secure Jimmy Butler’s services. The multi-team deal will see a host of players change teams, with Golden State sending Andrew Wiggins, Dennis Schroder, Kyle Anderson and a protected first-rounder in varying other directions.
Here’s a full look at the trade package, as laid out by Charania.
Warriors receive:
Heat receive:
- Andrew Wiggins (via Golden State)
- Kyle Anderson (via Golden State)
- P.J. Tucker (via Utah)
- 2025 first-round pick (via Golden State)
- If the pick, protected for selections 1-10, is not conveyed in 2025, the Heat will receive Golden State’s 2026 first-round selection (with the same protections attached).
- If the pick hasn’t conveyed by the 2026 draft, the Heat will receive Golden State’s unprotected 2027 first round pick.
Pistons receive:
- Lindy Waters (via Golden State)
- Josh Richardson (via Miami)
Jazz receive:
- Dennis Schroder (via Golden State)

Giannis Antetokounmpo reacts to ‘brother’ Khris Middleton
Date: Feb. 5
Source: Jim Owczarski, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel
Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo was glowing in his review of three-time All-Star Khris Middleton, who was dealt to the Wizards on Feb. 5. The pairing headlined Milwaukee’s title-winning 2021 side and enjoyed gobs of success during their 12-year tenure together.
“Everybody on the team’s going to miss Khris,” Antetokounmpo said. “His leadership. For me, my brotherhood with Khris is the most important thing I’ve had within this team for a lot of years.
“I know it’s business, but for me, Khris is my brother I’m going to have a relationship with him after basketball. It kind of hurts, but at the end of the day, I understand the business side of things and I’m still going to show up to work and do my job until it’s my time to dip.”
Dennis Schroder could feature in Jimmy Butler trade
Date: Feb. 5
Source: Marc Stein, NBA insider
Golden State appears hell-bent to try to iron out a deal with Miami for star wing Jimmy Butler. If the Warriors do succeed in their pursuit, guard Dennis Schroder will likely be a part of the trade. The 31-year old — who came to the Bay Area via a Dec. 15 trade with Brooklyn —is eligible to be included in a trade.
Schroder is on a $13 million deal. His salary could go a long way in cutting into Butler’s $48 million cap hit, although Golden State would need some help to make the rest of the accounting work.
Jericho Sims on the outs in New York
Date: Feb. 5
Source: Tim Bontemps, ESPN
The Knicks look set to part ways with 26-year old center Jericho Sims, whose $2 million expiring contract could prove an appealing chip for competing organizations. Sims is averaging 1.6 points and 3.3 rebounds per game across 10.8 minutes of play time.
Warriors wary of Nikola Vucevic asking price
Date: Feb. 5
Source: K.C. Johnson, NBA insider
With Kevin Durant increasingly unlikely to make a return to the Bay Area, the Warriors are looking at other options. One — assuming Jimmy Butler is unavailable — is Bulls star big Nikola Vucevic. Chicago is open to dealing the 34-year old, although its asking price is believed to be too high for Golden State at present.
Vucevic, a two-time All-Star, is averaging 19.7 points, 10. 4 rebounds and 3.5 assists on 54.8/40.1/80.7 shooting in 2024-25. He has one more year of team control beyond the 2024-25 season.
Bulls looking for trade partners for newly-acquired Kevin Huerter, Tre Jones and Zach Collins
Date: Feb. 5
Source: Michael Scotto, NBA insider
Chicago doesn’t seem content with keeping newly-minted role players Kevin Huerter, Tre Jones and Zach Collins around. The Bulls listed each of the three out ahead of their matchup with Minnesota on Wednesday. The reason listed for their absence is a coach’s decision, but there are whispers that Chicago is exploring trades for the trio, who arrived earlier in the week as part of the De’Aaron Fox-Zach LaVine deal.
Pelicans deal Daniel Theis, second-round pick to Thunder for cash considerations
Date: Feb. 5
Source: Shams Charania, ESPN
Oklahoma City collected another rotation piece as it gears up for what it hopes will be a lengthy postseason run, landing Pelicans big Daniel Theis, in addition to the the least favorable of New Orleans and Orlando’s 2031 second round picks.
The exchange will see the Thunder send cash considerations to the Pelicans. The move should keep New Orleans below the luxury tax threshold, opening the door for the franchise to convert Brandon Boston Jr.’s two-way contract into a standard one.
Kings land Jonas Valanciunas via trade with Wizards
Date: Feb. 5
Source: Shams Charania, ESPN
Sacramento added another piece as it attempts to retool following De’Aaron Fox’s trade, landing Wizards big Jonas Valanciunas via trade.
The Kings will send Sidy Cissoko and two second-round picks in exchange for Valanciunas, who is averaging 11.5 points and 8.2 rebounds in 20.1 minutes a night.
Warriors shifting trade focus from Kevin Durant to Jimmy Butler
Date: Feb. 5
Source: Marc Stein, NBA insider
Golden State looks to have exited the Kevin Durant sweepstakes, turning its attention to Jimmy Butler. The Suns star is viewed as being unattainable — largely due to his lack of interest in a return to his former franchise.
Butler has been on the outs for weeks in Vice City and looks increasingly likely to make a move, although his favored destination is rumored to be Phoenix.
Kevin Durant uninterested in Warriors reunion
Date: Feb. 5
Source: Marc Stein, NBA insider
Stein reports “Durant has some serious reservations about a second Warriors stint if he were to be shipped there,” but added that “the Warriors might have the gumption to trade for Durant anyway … even if they believe he is disinclined to come back.”
This report comes after ESPN’s Shams Charania shared that Golden State is “legitimately calling about every All-Star player,” in advance of the deadline. The Warriors seem intent on adding star power to breathe life into a season of ups and downs.
Durant’s disinclination for a reunion may signal the end of trade talks, per multiple reports.
As Golden State pursues Phoenix’s Kevin Durant, the two-time Warriors NBA Finals MVP has no desire in a reunion and does not want to go back. Reporting for NBA Today: pic.twitter.com/tNeTzw2gCf

Here is the latest. It is highly unlikely now that the Suns will trade Kevin Durant to Golden State. KD does not want to play for the Warriors he wants to stay in Phoenix. This trade had a lot of momentum in the last 24 hours but that momentum is lost.
