NBA champion outlines path for Warriors to pair Stephen Curry with Giannis Antetokounmpo

At 24-23, this season is all but over for the Golden State Warriors. Even if they manage to make the playoffs, they simply are unable to compete with the likes of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies or Denver Nuggets in a seven-game series.

Despite clinching a 2-1 season series win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday, the Warriors are in rough shape, and Stephen Curry and Draymond Green have recently waived the white flag, encouraging the front office not to make a move to mortgage their future.

However, if they can somehow land Curry a co-star who is still in his MVP prime, then it would be hard to pass up a chance at a title. Giannis Antetokounmpo is only 30 years old and could be the best player Curry has ever shared the court with outside of Kevin Durant.

The Bucks are fourth in the Eastern Conference, but with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and New York Knicks ahead of them in the standings, their path to the Finals is in question.

“If Milwaukee doesn’t make it to the Conference Finals, it’s a failed season, right?” asked Kendrick Perkins on Wednesday’s episode of the “Road Trippin” podcast. “If you’re Giannis, why would you have hope or even some type of belief that you could get back to where you need to be with this organization?”

The Warriors, in theory, could make a splashy move for the Greek Freak this offseason if he becomes disgruntled with the Bucks.

“That’s the only guy that I could see come available that could actually move the needle with the Golden State Warriors that would pair alongside Stephen Curry.”

In order to land Antetokounmpo, the Dubs would have to be willing to give up pretty much every asset they have, but in order to pair Curry with the most dominant player of this generation, it’s worth considering. The Bucks would have to fall short once again, which could open the door to a fascinating offseason move.
