The Denver Broncos will have a new-look coaching staff in 2024 after having some coaches plucked from their staff by other teams and making a few changes themselves.
The Broncos have had teams come and raid the coaching staff and the front office in recent days and will have some positions to fill as a result. On Tuesday, the team chose it was time to go in another direction with one of the position coaches.
Greg Manusky, an experienced coach who also spent 12 seasons in the league as a player, is out as the team’s linebackers coach. It was a mutual agreement between the two sides. Manusky joined the Broncos in 2023 when Sean Payton was hired as the team’s head coach.
Some of the biggest decisions the Broncos will have to make this offseason will be at the linebacker position, specifically on the inside. Cody Barton and Justin Strnad are both free agents and Alex Singleton, a 31-year-old linebacker coming off a torn ACL, could be a candidate to be cut in a cap-saving move.
The team may have felt it’s time to go in a new direction all the way around and that could lead to the team moving on from all three of those players.
Drew Sanders, who will be entering year three next season, will be a candidate to see increased playing time if he can grab one of those spots.
Broncos have several openings on the coaching staff
In addition to replacing Manusky, the Broncos will need a new tight ends coach and passing game coordinator to replace Declan Doyle and John Morton, who were hired as offensive coordinators in Chicago and Detroit, respectively.
The Broncos also parted ways with special teams coordinator Ben Kotwica following the season. Assistant special teams coach Chris Banjo is a candidate to take over his position, but Banjo is a candidate for several other teams as well.
Payton will have his work cut out for him as he looks to bring in the right people to help continue the path of success that Denver is currently on.
