Alex de Minaur will be aiming to make the Australian Open quarter-finals for the first time when he takes on American talent Alex Michelsen at Rod Laver Arena on Monday night.
The Australian eighth seed has reached the fourth round on four occasions but has never made it through to the last eight at Melbourne Park.
Standing in his way is 20-year-old future star Michelsen, who has dumped out Stefanos Tsitsipas and Karen Khachanov from the Australian Open so far.

With both Tsitsipas and Khachanov out, De Minaur has in theory an easier path to the quarter-finals.
But Michelsen played some quality tennis to eliminate those players, dropping only one set across the two matches.
Michelsen dominated De Minaur 6-4 6-1 in their only hardcourt meeting at Los Cabos in February last year, but the Aussie got his revenge at the French Open a few months later, whitewashing the American 6-1 6-0 6-2 in only one hour, 48 minutes.
In his previous match against Francisco Cerundolo, De Minaur might have lost against a physically stronger opponent but kept mentally strong and outlasted the Argentine.
Michelsen is carrying an injury concern with his hip into the match and the world no.42 has only ever played one five-set match in his career – a loss to Lloyd Harris at Wimbledon.
This factor should be enough to see De Minaur get over the line, but he is going to have to play better than he did against Cerundolo.
