Man United vs. Brighton lineups, predicted starting 11, confirmed team news, injuries: Dalot back from ban

Manchester United were indebted to Amad Diallo’s incredible late heroics to sink Premier League basement boys Southampton and badly need to take that momentum into a tough test against Brighton.

Amad’s goals to secure a 3-1 win all came after the 81st minute and hauled Ruben Amorim’s team up to 12th in the table.

That puts them three places and five points behind Brighton in ninth. Fabian Hurtzeler’s side won 1-0 at Ipswich last time out and only top two Liverpool and Arsenal have lost fewer games than their four defeats this term.

The Sporting News looks at the latest team news and predicted lineups.

Diogo Dalot will probably come straight back into the United side after serving a one-match suspension against Southampton following his FA Cup red card against Arsenal.

Amad started at right wing-back against Southampton before being pushed forward for his late heroics. If Amorim wishes to keep the in-form star in his forward line but maintain attacking thrust, Antony could be an option to start at right wing-back.

That would in turn facilitate a move into the back three for the versatile Noussair Mazraoui after Leny Yoro struggled in the Southampton game and Harry Maguire was only fit enough to feature as a late substitute.

Man United predicted starting lineup (3-4-3, right to left): Onana (GK) — Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez — Antony, Fernandes, Ugarte, Dalot — Amad, Hojlund, Garnacho.

Injured: Mount (thigh), Shaw (calf), Lindelof, Evans (both muscular)
Suspended:

Danny Welbeck returned to action for Brighton in midweek and will hope to add to a superb haul of six goals against his former employers since his 2014 move to Arsenal. Tariq Lamptey and captain Lewis Dunk were also back into the fray at Portman Road and could both start.

Long-term absentees Igor and Ferdi Kadioglu remain sidelined, with Brajan Gruda and Mats Wieffer doubtful, although Evan Ferguson and Jack Hinshelwood are back in training

Brighton predicrted starting lineup (4-2-3-1, right to left): Verbruggen (GK) — Lamptey, Van Hecke, Dunk, Estupinan — Baleba, O’Riley — Adingra, Rutter, Mitoma — Welbeck

Injured: Igor (hamstring), Kadioglu (ankle), Gruda, Wieffer (thigh), Milner (thigh)
Suspended: None
