Dodgers listed as possible landing spot for $260 million Cardinals All-Star

The Los Angeles Dodgers are riding high after winning another World Series title this past October. They had the best record in Major League Baseball and navigated several injuries, earning their title.

They’ve also been very busy this offseason. They signed Blake Snell and Hye-Seong Kim, brought back Teoscar Hernandez and also are reportedly still in the mix for Jack Flaherty and Roki Sasaki.

Nolan Arenado is being aggressively shopped by the St. Louis Cardinals, and while the Dodgers haven’t been linked to him yet, they can’t be counted out. Ethan Hyatt of Just Baseball listed Los Angeles as a landing spot for the eight-time All-Star.

“Doesn’t it feel like the Dodgers are in on every star player? Well, it would be no surprise if Arenado waived his no-trade clause to join Blake Snell as a new Dodger if given the opportunity. Coming hot off a World Series victory in 2024, the Dodgers have been looming as large as ever in the offseason and could certainly put together a package to make Arenado one of their own,” Hyatt wrote.

Bringing in Arenado would complicate third base a bit, as Max Muncy is already at that position. But Los Angeles could move him to second base, Kim to shortstop and Mookie Betts back to the outfield.

The Dodgers also are never afraid to spend money, so it might not be too hard for the Cardinals to get them to eat most of Arenado’s contract and even get a decent return for the 10-time Gold Glove Award winner.

Arenado was almost traded to the Houston Astros this offseason. But the Dodgers are a team he would certainly waive his no-trade clause for, as he grew up in Southern California.

We’ll see if a deal materializes.
