Barcelona would get off to a strong start this season, winning the initial La Liga meeting emphatically by a 4-0 score in late October. The two will meet once again in the Supercopa de Espana final on January 12 in Riyadh for the next iteration of this famous rivalry.

The two clubs have clashed in 258 competitive matches all-time, with Real Madrid winning 105, Barcelona 101, and the teams finishing level on 52 occasions. Carlo Ancelotti has been a mainstay at Real Madrid since joining in 2021, seeing two Barcelona managers fired during his time in charge at the Bernabeu with Ronald Koeman and Xavi both ushered out.

In October 2024, the Italian faced a new manager as the El Clasico opponents clashed, and he was given a rude awakening by Hansi Flick in a shocking 4-0 defeat at home.

The two had never matched up before, with Flick now in his first managerial job outside of Germany. The two never met when Ancelotti was in charge of Bayern Munich, as Flick was working for the German national team setup at the time.
