Ruben Amorim ‘set to be offered’ solution to Man United’s attacking problems

With Marcus Rashford seemingly on his way out and the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee not as prolific as Manchester United would have hoped, a free-scoring January signing is set to be a top priority for Ruben Amorim.

And per the latest report from Give Me Sport, they may not have to break too much of a sweat to find the answer to this problem.

Their source tells them that Lille striker Jonathan David is being shopped around by his employers, and United are the most prominent name on their list of potential destinations.

Canada international David already has 11 goals in the French top flight this season — the same as Hojlund and Zirkzee combined, in all competitions, and almost half of United’s entire scoring offering in 24/25 Premier League fixtures.

However, The Red Devils aren’t the only EPL side being offered a deal for David, according to the same report.

Jonathan David to West Ham?

West Ham United, who like Man Utd are having a frustrating season so far and have made a mid-season managerial change with Graham Potter recently replacing Julen Lopetegui, are another side reportedly contacted by Lille.

David could end up as the Hammers’ first signing of the Potter regime, and they too are on the lookout for more firepower up top.

Why do Lille want to sell Jonathan David?

With his contract at Lille running down and his market value at an arguable peak, it appears they want to cash in while they still can.

CBS Sports’ Jonathan Johnson articulated the David situation here, which may be of use to Man United and West Ham fans.
