It’s official. One of the greatest to ever wear a Mets uniform will have it hung up at Citi Field. New York announced David Wright will get his No. 5 retired over the summer of 2025 while also inducting him to the club’s Hall of Fame.
“Excited, humbled, honored are just some of the words to describe the thought of this summer’s Mets Hall of Fame induction and seeing No. 5 up at Citi Field next to some of the best players to ever play the game,” Wright said. “A big thank you to [owners] Steve and Alex Cohen and the entire Mets organization for this surreal honor.”
One of the greatest to play for the club, Wright is just the 10th player to get his number retired. Throughout his 14-year career, which he played entirely with the Mets, he hit 242 home runs and drove in 970 runs. He played his final gam in 2018 after years of battling upper body injuries.
Wright will be honored on July 19 when New York hosts the Reds.

To watch the legend be inducted into club history, fans just need tickets to the game and to get to Citi Field before first pitch. Following the ceremony announcement, tickets for the game cost at least $135. You can get better views and better seats with just slightly more expensive passes.
