The Globe Soccer Awards hosts its 15th annual gala in Dubai on December 27.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi were passed over for the Ballon d’Or this year but remain in contention alongside the best of the next generation here.
In Ronaldo’s case, his involvement probably has plenty to do with his former agent Jorge Mendes being one of the founders of the awards. Mendes has won the best agent category in 11 of the 13 years it’s been on offer.
The Sporting News will update all the winners here as the results come in.

How are the Globe Soccer Awards winners decided?
The winners of the awards were decided by a vote — or, rather, two votes. There was a fan poll that closed on November 25 and a jury vote, which ran from November 28 to December 10.
The nominees with the most votes from global fans proceeded to the second round. At the end of this voting period, the figures with the biggest level of support — the jury’s vote counts for 80% of the final calculation, and the initial public vote the other 20% — will be anointed winners to be announced at the gala on December 27.
However, only eight of the categories are decided in this way. These are:
- Best Men’s Player
- Best Women’s Player
- Best Men’s Club
- Best Women’s Club
- Best Coach
- Emerging Player
- Best Middle East Player
- Best Middle East Club
